| Mike's Fine
Jewelry takes the security of our customer's information very seriously.
For that reason, we provide you with the highest level of secure
encryption technology available. Your credit card and
personal information is transmitted to us via the most secure method
currently in use.
Upon arriving at the Secure
Order Form for Mike's Fine Jewelry, you will notice two things that
indicate a secure connection.
1. The "http" portion of the web
page address you are residing at will now read "https".
The "s" indicates the page is "secure".
2. A small gold padlock will appear
in the bottom right hand corner of your browser window. The small
gold padlock is a universal web symbol indicating a secure connection.**
There are currently two
security encryption levels available for use: 40-bit and 128-bit***.
Because we want our customers to know that their information is sent us
using only the most secure connection available, we utilize a
128-bit SSL (secure socket layer) encryption strength certificate.
This is the same level of security in use by major financial and banking
institutions who conduct business on the Internet. Mike's Fine
Jewelry utilizes this level of security because it is computationally
unfeasible to break a 128-bit encryption key+++ and therefore,
your private personal and credit card information is virtually
unobtainable.
Our secure online order form carries a GeoTrust Secure Seal. This seal is further
evidence of our commitment to protecting the safety of your personally identifiable
information.
When your personal information
is received by us, it is not stored, shared or otherwise disseminated to
third parties for any reason whatsoever. For information
on our privacy practices, please read our Privacy
Policy page.
If you have any questions
about our order form and/or ordering methods currently in use, please feel
free to email us or
call us at our toll free number (800) 290-4478 for assistance.
** If you are are using
Netscape Navigator 3.0 or earlier, the broken key symbol in the lower-left
corner of your browser window becomes solid in secure mode. With Netscape
Communicator 4.0 and above, the padlock in the corner, usually open, is
closed in secure mode.
*** In order to
determine the level of encryption a shopping site uses, locate the gold
padlock in the bottom right hand corner of your browser window.
Place (hover) your mouse over the padlock and a dialog box will appear and
display the secure transmission encryption key strength, i.e., SSL
Secured - 40 bit or SSL Secured - 128 bit.
+++ Even
with the level of technology available today, the success of breaking a
128-bit encryption key is implausible because the sharing of information
across computer systems is limited by the speed of light.
